This Privacy Policy explains how Admitly collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use admitlyai.com and our services (the "Service"). Because many of our users are students, including minors, please also read the "Children and Minors" section carefully.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide:

  • Account information: name, email address, password, and, for minors, parent/guardian contact where applicable.
  • Student profile and academic information: high school, grade level, GPA, standardized test scores (SAT/ACT), AP/IB and coursework, intended major, activities, honors, and college list.
  • Documents and content: essays, application materials, and transcripts you upload.
  • Financial information you choose to provide: family income, budget, and financial-aid–related details (used for scholarship and aid features).
  • Optional information: any additional details you choose to share (which may include sensitive information such as background or demographic details used only to match you to relevant scholarships).
  • Communications: messages you send us, and your interactions with our AI assistant.

1.2 Payment information:

  • When you subscribe, payment is processed by our processor, Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your payment card information; we receive limited information such as subscription status and the last four digits of your card. We do not store full card numbers.

1.3 Information collected automatically:

  • Device and usage data, IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and similar analytics data, collected via cookies and similar technologies.

1.4 Information from third parties:

  • For example, referral/affiliate information when you sign up through a promotional code.

2. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, personalize, and improve the Service (e.g., build your college list, track deadlines, match scholarships, give essay feedback);
  • Process your subscription, trials, and payments;
  • Power AI features (see Section 4);
  • Communicate with you, including deadline and test-date reminders and service updates;
  • Maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. Legal Bases / Your Choices

  • Where required by law, we rely on your consent (including parental consent for minors), the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating the Service, and compliance with legal obligations. You can withdraw consent or adjust certain choices as described in Section 8.

4. Artificial Intelligence and Third-Party Processing

  • To provide features such as essay feedback, college-list generation, scholarship matching, and the AI assistant, we process your information using third-party AI/large-language-model providers and other service providers. This means content you submit (such as your profile details or essay text) may be transmitted to these providers to generate results. We use providers under agreements intended to protect your information, and we instruct providers to process data only to provide the Service. AI output may be inaccurate and should be independently verified.

5. How We Share Information

We share personal information only as described here:

  • Service providers: with vendors who help us operate the Service (e.g., hosting/app-platform providers, Stripe for payments, email/communication providers, analytics providers, and AI providers), who may process it only on our behalf.
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Admitly, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
  • With your direction: when you choose to submit information to a third party (e.g., applying to a scholarship through a link).
  • We do NOT sell your personal information, and we do NOT share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We also do not sell or rent student information to data brokers, colleges, or marketers.

6. Children and Minors

  • 6.1 We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use the Service. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13 without required parental consent, we will delete it.
  • 6.2 Users who are 13–17 should use the Service only with a parent or guardian's involvement and consent. Parents/guardians may review, request deletion of, or refuse further collection of their child's information by contacting privacy@admitlyai.com.
  • 6.3 We limit the collection of information from minors to what is needed to provide the Service and do not knowingly use it for advertising or sell it. (If Admitly later contracts with schools or districts, FERPA/student-data-privacy terms should be added here.)

7. Data Retention and Security

  • 7.1 We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may request deletion as described below.
  • 7.2 We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights and Choices

  • 8.1 Access, correction, deletion. You may access and update much of your information in your account, and you may request that we correct or delete your personal information by contacting privacy@admitlyai.com. We will honor verified requests as required by law.
  • 8.2 California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know, access, delete, and correct personal information, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or "share" personal information as defined by California law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Submit requests via privacy@admitlyai.com.
  • 8.3 Other jurisdictions. Residents of other states or countries may have similar rights; contact us to exercise them.
  • 8.4 Marketing and reminders. You can opt out of non-essential emails via the unsubscribe link or by contacting us; we may still send service-related messages.
  • 8.5 Cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

9. Cookies and Tracking

  • We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, measure usage, and improve the Service. (If you add analytics or advertising tools, disclose them here and add a cookie banner/consent mechanism.)

10. Data Location

  • We are based in the United States and process information in the U.S. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you consent to processing in the U.S., which may have different data-protection laws than your location.

11. Third-Party Links

  • The Service links to third-party sites (schools, scholarship providers, government resources). We are not responsible for their privacy practices; review their policies.

12. Changes to This Policy

  • We may update this Policy. Material changes will be posted with a new "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, additional notice. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
